Objectives:
Deepening skills in academic writing, writing for general public
Duration: 3 days
Lectures:
- Use of scientific English and grammar for writing, scientific communication,
- writing quality papers,
- writing a thesis and introduction to publishing in scientific journals (e.g. Animal, PLOS ONE, Scientific Reports);
- bibliography searches;
- avoiding plagiarism;
- interpretation of literature.
Practical training:
The ESRs will train on conceptualising a scientific manuscript using their own data; they will be taught to select the right journal and how to critically question and discuss their own results as well as gain an understanding of the peer review and editing processes of appropriate journals
