A technique used to separate, identify and quantify components in a mixture; sample in the liquid (mobile phase) is passed at high pressure through a column filled with a solid absorbent (solid phase), and each component of the sample interacts differently with the solid phase causing different time of passage through the column resulting in a separation of the components.
